The steps on the road to recovery:

1. Discovery visit:

Before initiating care, we discuss and write out the goals you want to achieve. Then, we take time to hear your story. Have you been told surgery is the only option? You have the “worst knee they have ever seen?” Failed trials of care with other providers? These past experiences matter to us. We want to know where you are at currently, so we can collectively make a path get to where you want to go. Lastly, we’ll discuss the insurance and cost implications based on the information provided on your intake paperwork. When we both conclude we are a good fit to work together, we’ll schedule the first visit. This consultation is free of charge and can be done in person or over the phone.

2. Initial assessment

Our initial assessment includes orthopedic and neurologic testing, comprehensive movement screen, and a hands on assessment. This information will help identify the root cause and guide our treatment to sustained relief. We will discuss our findings and write out a stepwise plan that works towards your goals based off this information.

3. Phases of Care

  1. Pain Phase: Pain is an unpleasant sensation designed to protect the body. Simply decreasing pain isn’t the end goal but it is important to understand pain and have tools to reduce it so you can get back to your normal activities as soon as possible.

  2. Rebuild Phase: The focus is to optimize how the body moves by maximizing range of motion and create stability in these movement patterns. This makes a solid foundation to train and optimize your movement goals.

  3. Performance Phase: Once the initial goals are met and a good movement foundation has been established, the focus shifts to adding strength and endurance to optimally prepare the body to handle stress in the future.

**An underlying component to all 3 phases is to empower you over your condition by educating you on what’s going on and giving you tools to self-manage when outside our office.
